The First Battle of Bull Run was the first real battle of the Civil War. The Union's goal was to crush the South, so they marched twords the Conferderate Capital, Richmond.When they ment the Conferderates in Manassas, they had the conferderates retreating. But as the Conferderates reinforcements arrived the pushed the union back twords the north. This battle proved one thing, this wasn't going to be a quick and easy war with one side winning without trying. As a result of this battle, it left the South feeling victourous, and the Union wanting revenge.
