"Our southern brothers have done gricvousle; they have rebbelled and have attacked their father's house and their loyal brothers, they must be punished and brought back, but this necessity breaks my heart." -Major Robert Anderson
Fort Sumter (Conferderate win)
Fort Sumter
Fort Sumter really wasn't a battle, but it was very important because it's where the Civil War's first shots were fired. Fort Sumter was located on an island in South Carolina, in Charleston Harbor. South Carolina didn't like that the union had control of the and, wouldn't let them bring supplies (food, amunition, ect.) into the fort. As a result the conferderate army demanded that the fort be evacuated. The northern army refused, and the confederates opened fire. The union surendered and the confederates captured the fort. The most important thing was that this little battle was the start of the long and bloody Civil War.
