Sherman's March to the Sea
Sherman's march really wasn't a battle, so no one really own, but it definitly helped the North.
While Grant and the Wilderness Campaine were trying to capture Richmond, he sent Willam Tecumsuh Sherman to "clear" the south. Sherman's army tryed to lure the Conferderates into a fight. Instead the Conferderates ran. Sherman and his men cleared everything in its path including bridges, people,buildings, plantations. This is known as total war, when you destroy both military and civilan resources.
In 1864 100,000 troops took over Atlanta and burnt half the city to the ground. After this they continued along ther Atlantic coast twords Savannah. Sherman's March to the Sea was the last major devestation to the South.
